WOW, that is all I gotta say. This album blew me away completely. I found out about this album on Anthony Fantano's YouTube channel "The Needle Drop". I personally have respect for Fantano because of how blunt and honest he is. I am 100% sure that labels and artists offer money to him so they could receive a good rating, but Baldthony Headtano never sells out. You have to respect that, no matter what your opinion of him is.

When I see Fantano review a random rap album, I always check it out. I found Injury Reserve through him and they turned into one of my favorite hip-hop groups. JPEGMAFIA's case is no different.

Lastly, look at the dude's name. JPEGMAFIA is one of the dopest names I've heard since Big Pokey. You just know that JPEG is making some off the wall shit.

Production

Peggy did a great job producing this album. I personally never heard a sound like this before in my life. The sound is best described as frantic, manic, hard hitting, and just random. Being a producer, I could tell that this album was probably made in one little ass room in his house/apartment. This is the type of shit you will listen too while you are browsing on the internet late at night.

"Real Nega" is one of the craziest things I've ever listened too. Peggy sampled ODB's "Goin' Down" off his classic album "Return of The 36 Chambers". Peggy is throwing lyrical bullets at a absurd pace. The drums are hard hitting and manically programmed. The second half of the song contains a beat switch, which mellows out the mood.

"1539 N. Calvert" is another great track. Peggy trolls the mumble rappers on this one. Out raps them all over beat Uzi would spit on. 808

"Thug Tears" is another crazy ass track. The beat is absolutely insane again. Peggy puts the hi-hats on the left and right channel at the same time, which creates a chaotic and confusing fore-front. This doesn't stop JPEG from murdering the beat though.

"Baby I'm Bleeding" is another absolutely crazy song. This sounds like he sampled a crack head trying to sing. And once again, Peggy shines over the chaotic landscape of the track.

"Libtard Anthem" one of my favorite tracks on the whole album. Once the 808s drop, its a wrap. The track bangs the fuck out while the feature act Freaky makes fun of liberals lol. The lyrics are so funny. Freaky also makes fun of Bill Maher, which I'm not opposing. Bill Maher sucks.

Lyrics

Peggy is rapping out of his mind this whole album. There is a little dark humor throughout this whole album though, so if you get offended easily, this is not for you. My favorite line this whole album is "Word on the street you're Bill Maher", which I'm assuming means he's a white guy who enjoys saying the N word around black people. Shit had me dying first time I heard it. Fuck Bill Maher.

Another great line is "All you yuppie purses getting swiped like Tinder". This shit is great. Yuppie bitches are for sure a walking lick to a criminal, so I could assume its just as easy as swiping right on Tinder.

Overall

This album is a 8/10 for me. There is many stand out tracks on this album, but there is about 4-5 I don't really like at all. The production is absolutely stellar and Peggy rapped his ass off. I am looking forward to JPEGMAFIA's next project and I hope you guys give this album a shot and listen to it in its entirety.
