Today's Top Ten Producers By: DimVinci
Introduction
I find myself listening to tracks by these producers all the time. I also try to take something from each of these producers and learn from them. I hope you enjoy my list.
10. Flume
Flume is known for his sporadic and wonky electronic sound, but Flume is starting to merge into the hip-hop scene. The biggest reason why I have him at ten, is the lack of work in the hip-hop genre. I love Flume and he never fails to impress me. His multiple collabs with Vince Staples are great, almost perfect tracks. Flume brings a great sense of creativity to the game and loves to pull new sounds out of left field. I love producers who aren't scared to break molds and be experimental, and Flume fits that bill. Lastly, Flume produced the track "Yeah Right" off Vince Staple's "Big Fish Theory". The track is honestly legendary. If I seen this shit live, i'm throwing objects and the ceiling and shit.
9. JPEGMAFIA
DAMMMNNN PEGGGGYYYYYY. Lord Peggy is in a league of his own. His recent project "Veteran" is a fucking masterpiece. JPEG brings out the most random and organic sounds I have ever heard. His 808s are hard, his snares pop, and his sample selection is absolutely brilliant. Please do yourself a favor and check out this album. I just bought some tickets to go see him and Injury Reserve in April.
8. Erick The Architect
Erick Arc is one of the best underground producers in the game. His work on "Better Off Dead" is great. Arc's drum programming is very unique and refreshing. It sucks that he doesn't sample anymore due to the expense of it. Nevertheless I can't wait to hear their new album dropping in April.
Some of his best tracks are "Palm Trees", "Club Soda", and "Red Eye to Paris".
7. Metro Boomin
Metro is one of the best young producers out. His work speaks for itself. His collab list is a mile long and keeps growing. I personally have him this low because at the moment his work is a bit over saturated right now. "What A Time To Be Alive" is a certified banger and I still play that to this day. DS2 is also hard af. Lil Metro is the prince of trap production.
6. Kaytranada
Kaytranada is a unique specimen in the music industry. His album "99.9%" is great and his collabs are even better. A Madlib and Kay collab would be a dream of mine. I am lookin forward to his next solo album and his work on Bishop Nehru's next album. Kaytranada is known for his "bounce". Once you start listening to him you will know what I mean.
5. Alchemist
Alchemist is one of the best to do it hands down. His collabs are endless and his joint project with Action Bronson "Rare Chandeliers" is a classic. His sampling skill is unmatched and drum programming is just as good. I would like to see more collabs with him and Earl in the future.
4. Parker Corey
Parker Corey (the white dude above) has a dope style. Every Injury Reserve track sounds different and they become more unique with more songs they drop. Couple of my favorites by him are "ttktv", "Friday", "Boom x3", "91' Cadillac DeVille", and "What's Goodie". I feel like Parker gets a lot of his influence from Pharrell. Do yourself a favor and check out Injury Reserve.
3. Knxwledge
2. Kanye West
Ye's work is almost flawless. He is a master at chopping up soul records. Ye also can do any genre inside of hip-hop. That's it.
1. Madlib
Madlib is the goat. Look at his discography. Dude is unmatched.
Be on the look out for new work coming from me all year. I currently am working on my new album that is going to be a master piece. I also am collabing with other local artists in the scene. Lastly, I am potentially scoring (making the soundtrack) for a indie film coming to theaters soon. 2018 is going to be a great year.
